Frequently Asked Questions

We often get questions about the tree services we provide in Abilene, San Angelo, Brownwood, Wichita Falls, Midland, Weatherford, TX and all areas in between (and even beyond). Here are a list of several questions to help you make the best tree care decisions that are right for you!

Q
Do you charge extra (Trip Fees, Onsite Quote Fees) to give estimates for tree services outside of the Abilene city limits?
AWe do not charge anything extra for quotes outside of Abilene. We service customers all over the Abilene, San Angelo, Brownwood, Midland and Weatherford areas and even further. Our estimates are always 100% free to any customer in our service area. Many companies don’t even leave Abilene unless they know the job is worth a certain amount of money.
Q
What’s the difference between stump grinding and stump removal?
A Stump grinding chops up a stump using equipment we use directly over the top of the stump, and sometimes people refer to stump removal as hitching a log chain onto a stump and trying to rip it out of the ground with a pickup truck or larger piece of equipment. It creates a huge mess and tears up the ground for at least 20 feet around the stump. So we only provide extensive stump grinding services withs several heavy duty stump grinders that we use according to the difficulty of the job. A stump grinder effectively removes the remaining wood from a tree stump after the tree above ground has been removed. It employs a robust, rotating blade that aggressively penetrates the wood as it revolves. The teeth on the blade slice the stump wood into small fragments. Our operators direct the blade across the entire stump, gradually reducing the wood to wood chips and ensuring that the stump is ground well below the ground level. We level the site afterwards, although many property owners will want to add additional soil to level out the space and get grass to grow over the site if it’s not in a place where they want to do further landscaping.
Q
Do you offer emergency tree services for storm damage?
A We sure do! Our phones are answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year as we’re here to serve you when you need our tree services. Our cranes make us unique in the region as we can literally lift downed trees off of homes if needed.
Q
My friends tell me that tree services are expensive, what gives?
A

Here every tree service job we price is an estimate of time. How long will it take our crews to get the job done? What equipment will be needed? Are there logistical issues that need to be addressed? All of these things come into play with each job we price.

We strive to be the absolute best at what we do.

This in turn relates to better equipment to get jobs done faster and safer, employee safety training, better wages to attract and keep exceptional staff, insurance, taxes, and so much more.

Your average “fast cash” tree guy or company likely does not have these expenses and in turn, may give you a lower price. However, more often than not, “you get what you pay for” with those cheaper services. We are often called to complete tree removal jobs that other tree companies never finished.

The operation of a reputable tree service company is expensive and dangerous because a lot of times we are dealing with large, messy, hard-to-reach objects that have the potential to damage property if not addressed correctly. A quick Google search about tree accidents will yield some startling results that show what happens when the wrong person gets hold of a chainsaw.  Here in Abilene, you will also find a 2022 fatal accident involving another tree service here in the city.

We strive to be at or below market value on each job that we price and provide you a quote on. Sometimes we are higher and sometimes we are lower, but usually, we are in that sweet spot of right on target.

We regularly beat bids and are willing to work with customers the best way we can to ensure that they get our exceptional service at the best price.

Q
Is it true that you use some big cranes when you do your work?
A

Our fleet of cranes is a huge asset when it comes to tree removals and toppings. We can take out large trees in hard-to-reach places with significantly less effort. Sometimes we can literally pluck the whole tree out in one cut. This, in turn, reduced the amount of time it takes to get the job done and that results in a better price for our customers.

Some companies may have to piece-cut a tree away bit by bit and stay at your house for days to remove one tree with the increased risk of dropping a huge limb through your roof. Plus do you know they are fully insured?

We have had instances where other tree companies have called us in to help them finish a job where a crane was an absolute necessity. We can usually do the same amount of work in a fraction of the time with less disruption to your day.

All things considered, sometimes we do things the old-fashioned way and can drop the tree or piece it away if it is faster. We are a well-oiled machine and prefer to do things in the most efficient way possible. Cranes are but a fraction of the arsenal we have at our disposal to make each job efficient and a win-win for everyone involved.

Q
How long will it take to have my trees removed or trimmed?
A

Most trees can be trimmed or removed within a few days of receiving your estimate.

Q
Are you insured?
AYes. We are insured. It’s important that you partner with a tree care service that is insured.

Our tree service professionals in Abilene are happy to provide you with certificates upon request when we give you an estimate for our work.

Q
Do you require that I put down a deposit before you being the tree work?
A

No. Never. Ever.

With over 25 years of being in the business, we have the area’s best reputation. We do not require a deposit before beginning work. We believe that payment should be received once the job is complete. It is unfortunate but many in the “service industry” have taken advantage of others by taking deposits or full payments and then never returning to finish or even start the job. We are just the opposite of those people.

Reputation means everything to a business in the private sector, and we work hard to keep ours exceptional. No payment of any sort is required until the job is finished and our customer has approved it. Just glance at our Google reviews and BBB Better Business Bureau score to know we are legitimate and mean what we say.

Q
I need tree work done but my funds are limited. What are my options? Do you take payments?
A

You do have options!

In addition to taking cash, check, or credit cards for the cost of your work, we have partnered with two companies to offer financing options for our tree service customers. We are able to provide 6-months of no-interest financing through First Financial Bank. The financing link can be found here: https://www.ffinonline.com/RFP/Application/Disclosure/3937

This works great for you! With First Financial Bank we are pretty much paying the interest for you. We do not charge you anything extra whether you decide to finance the work through First Financial or not. We provide this as a courtesy to our customers to offer different options that work best with their finances.

If you need a longer financing term we have also partnered with Wisetack to allow our customers this option with interest if that’s what you need from 3 to 60 months of payback. Again, this is not for everyone as the financing for both options is subject to a credit check. The Wisetack credit application is on the quote form we provide via text or email. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions about financing.

Q
What do you charge to trim a tree?
A

Boy, that is a loaded question.

“Tree trimming” can have an entire range of options and pricing. We can do everything from a light canopy raising for mowing purposes to a severe trim to allow more sunlight on your grass. Another consideration is how much deadwood are we getting out. Is it the large obvious dead branches or are we going all the way to the top to get small dead twigs? These are questions we would ask when pricing your job to make sure you are getting exactly what you are expecting. The worst feeling is when you pay for a service only to have it not turn out like you were hoping.

Our free estimates enable us to get as much information from you as possible to make sure all of your needs are met. This is also why we like to meet our customers at the job and have them go over the details of what they want.

Occasionally we get asked to swing by a property and give an estimate over the phone. If the customer is unable to meet us there, we can call and discuss the details over the phone, if need be, but we do prefer a face-to-face meeting with you.

Q
Does your tree removal crew remove debris from the site?
A

Yes, unless there is a unique request not to provide these services. Oftentimes, a customer will request that some of the wood be left for firewood. We’re more than happy to accommodate those requests.

In our quotes, we will always include limb and debris removal. Our Abilene tree service pros go to great lengths to ensure that your property is left clean and tidy after tree trimming or tree removal services. Your yard should look the same (or better!) after we’ve completed the job.

Q
Will there be damage to my yard after I get my tree removed or tree trimmed?
ATypically, there should be no damage whatsoever to your property. In some small instances, there may be some small damage to the surface of your lawn that is unavoidable due to the weight of the tree branches or trunks when they are cut down. Our tree trimming and tree removal experts do our best to avoid this at all costs and keep your lawn in the same condition it was or better when we arrived.
Q
Will power lines make your tree work more dangerous when you remove a tree?
ANot at all. We can work around power lines in almost every case. If there are power lines in the area, we will also reach out to your electric service provider and they will work with us while we remove your tree or limbs to make sure that there are no instances of a damaged power line when we’re providing tree removal.
Q
Does tree removal include stump removal too?
A That’s entirely up to you! When we provide you with a quote, we will also include an estimate for stump removal in Abilene, Sweetwater, San Angelo, and all areas we serve.  Some of our customers do decide for us to leave the stump to help save on costs.
Q
Do you have additional questions for our Abilene tree service experts???
