After removing a customer’s tree, quite often our customers will request the woodchips for their garden. We are happy to oblige as it means one less trip to go and dump the woodchips somewhere else.

Customers in the Abilene area who have gardens will find a lot of use for woodchips. They are good at suppressing weeds. By adding woodchips in the area, weeds are not able to germinate. Which means less maintenance work for you.

Wood Chips and mulch

Wood Chips have a number of uses here in West Texas.

  • Mulch for landscaping and garden beds
  • Composting material
  • Fuel, they make a great fire starter and for small, controlled fires
  • Walkways, wood chips suppress weeds and even out the ground
  • Play area surface, mother nature’s alternative to ground-up rubber tires
  • Dog pens, runs, and kennels (cuts down on mud when we actually get rain or their water bowls overflow)

You’ll be doing the garden and flower beds a favor by adding soil-building mulch while keeping tons of organic matter out of the landfill. And your pocketbook will thank you, too.

If we do not leave chips on site we do store than at one of our storage facilities.

Chips versus Mulch

Woodchips and mulch are essentially the same things. Woodchips are created when a tree is fed into a mulching machine. This can be used as mulch in your garden. Woodchips are by far the most popular form of mulch as it works well and looks great.

Hardwood Bark Mulch

Hardwood bark mulch is the best for your garden and landscape plants that prefer their soil neutral to alkaline, or sweet. The chips decompose into a rich, sweet-smelling, black dirt. It’s truly one of the best ways to help keep the soil around your plants from drying out too much in the West Texas heat. Plus one of our large loads
